The SONY Alpha NEX-7 ~ The Pro Level Point & Shoot You Have Been Waiting For.

My quest for a portable 'pro -level' point and shoot seems to be over. Due out this November is the new Sony NEX-7. Judging by all the hubbub on the net it seems to have hit the mark. I came pretty close to getting the FUJI X100 but the lack of interchangeable lenses was holding me back. The NEX-7 boast a decent selection of lenses including the razor sharp Zeiss 24mm 1.8.(36mm equivalent on full frame cameras)

Prints up to 20x30 can be made from this little gem based on what I have been able to glean from the info I gathered on the net about the NEX-7.  Pretty impressive! For times when I don't feel like lugging around my Canon 5D MkII this is a fantastic option for me. Great for street photography!

Here's the skinny on the NEX-7:

•24.3 MP APS-C Exmor sensor
•ISO range: 100-16000
•1920×1080 60p/60i/24p AVCHD video recording
•XGA OLED viewfinder
•10 fps
•25-point AF system
•HDR functionality
•Built-in flash
•Tilting rear screen
•Battery life: over 400 shots
•Magnesium alloy body
•Shutter time lag: 0.02 sec (thats' fast folks)
•Face recognition functionality
•Object tracking functionality
•Microphone input socket
•3D Panorama Sweep mode

* kit with an exclusive black 18-55mm zoom lens for about $1350, or as a body-only for about $1200(USD)

No camera is perfect; this one is no exception, but  the pluses certainly outweigh the minuses. Just like a finding a partner (wink) figure out what is most important to you and find "the one" who embodies those ideals and then don't sweat the other stuff. Nothing is perfect.
